College Student and Experienced Tutor | Creative Writing, Public Speaking, and Academic success

My qualifications for teaching Creative Writing stem from a combination of academic excellence, practical experience, and a genuine passion for storytelling. As a newly college freshman with a strong foundation in English Language Arts, including honors and AP coursework from highschool, I have honed my writing skills through years of rigorous study and practice. Beyond the classroom, I actively engage in creative writing pursuits, including poetry, fiction, and personal essays. I have participated in writing workshops, competitions, and literary events, where I have received recognition for my work and gained valuable feedback from peers and professionals in the field. Furthermore, my involvement in extracurricular activities, such as leadership roles in clubs and organizations, has allowed me to develop strong communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate others in their creative endeavors. Students should choose me as their Creative Writing tutor because of my comprehensive expertise in both the theory and practice of creative writing. I offer personalized guidance and support tailored to each student's unique writing style, interests, and goals. Specifically, I can help students: 3. Receive Constructive Feedback: Offer constructive feedback on students’ writing projects, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement, revise their work effectively, and develop a deeper understanding of the writing process. 4. Cultivate Creativity and Originality: Encourage students to unleash their imagination, think outside the box, and explore new ideas and perspectives in their writing. 5. Prepare for Publication or Competitions: Assist students in preparing their work for publication or submission to writing competitions, providing guidance on formatting, editing, and submitting their writing to literary journals, magazines, or contests.

Bachelors of Arts, Masters of Fine Arts, Actor/Playwright/Screenwriter/Novelist/Filmmaker

I have been writing novels, screenplays, plays, songs and poetry for her fifteen years. I also studied theatre at both the undergrad with a Bachelor's of Arts from Western Michigan University and graduate level with a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of California, San Diego. I am an expert in script analysis and story building. I like to dive deep into how to build a fictional world from the ground up, and creating characters whose motives are logical within the world that is built. My favorite genres are magical realism, science fiction, historical fiction, and crime dramas. I use my skills in writing and world building as an actor as well. I create each character as I would the worlds I create in fiction. I start with the simple traits(i.e. "what does my character carry in his pocket" "What is my character's favorite breakfast food" etc.) so that I can find a completely fulfilled character I can embody. I have acted in numerous theatre's across the country such as the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Seattle Repertory theatre. In these lessons I will follow the principles your instructor has laid out for you and help you reach the highest potential your work can achieve by looking for specifics and help flesh out the world and characters you are creating. I will also help you with script analysis so you can continue thinking deeper about your ideas as you continue on the path of world-building.
